NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack and accused the opposition parties of prioritizing their personal interests over the welfare of the nation.
Hitting out at opposition parties for promoting dynastic politics, PM Modi said that the motto of these parties is “Of the family, for the family”.
“In democracy, it is of the people, by the people and for the people. But for the dynastic political parties, it is of the family, by the family and for the family. Family first, nation nothing. This is their motto.. ,” PM Modi said.
Taking a swipe at the two-day meeting of opposition parties in Bengaluru, PM Modi said that people are saying this is gathering to promote corruption. These leaders can give a guarantee of Rs 20 lakh crore scam, the PM said.
“Today, people of the country have already decided to bring us back in 2024. So, people who are responsible for the plight of India have opened their shops…24 ke liye 26 hone waale rajnaitik dalon par ye bada fit baith’ta hai. They are singing some other song but the reality is something else. A label of something else has been put up but the product is someone else’s. There is a guarantee of poison of casteism and immense corruption at their shops. Now, they are in Bengaluru…,” PM Modi said.
“People of the country say that this is a ‘Kattar Bhrashtachar Sammelan‘…Another speciality of this meeting is that if someone is out on bail in a corruption of crores of Rupees, they are seen with great respect. If the entire family is out on bail, they are more honoured… If someone insults a community and is punished by the court, he is honoured…,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while virtually addressing the audience at the inauguration ceremony of the New Integrated Terminal Building at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair.
With a call for unity, top leaders of 26 opposition parties began crucial deliberations on Monday to chalk out their joint programme aimed at defeating the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, chief ministers M K Stalin, Nitish Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren and RJD chief Lalu Prasad were among those who attended the dinner meeting on Monday, where discussions were held to finalise the agenda for the formal talks starting this morning.
