JAMMU: In view of prevailing inclement weather conditions, the scheduled visit of Union home minister Amit Shah to Jammu has been deferred, an official said Monday.
During this proposed visit, Shah was scheduled to attend Vikasit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra in Jammu and inaugurate projects worth Rs 1,379 crore — including e-buses in Jammu city — and lay the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 2,348 crore.
“Shah was scheduled to distribute appointment letters to those appointed on compassionate grounds… and undertake a review of the security and development of Jammu and Kashmir,” the official said, adding that the minister was also slated to travel to Dera ki Gali in Poonch sector to meet the families of civilians recently killed in terror attacks.
Foggy weather conditions coupled with poor visibility had earlier led to the cancellation of the visits of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and BJP national president J P Nadda to Jammu, on January 4 and January 7, respectively.
